The country music icon was born in 1968 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Karen and David Chesney. He then went through life just like most Americans, playing football, going to high school and graduating. However, his life took a different turn when on one Christmas evening he was given an acoustic guitar. Chesney was so taken up by the gift that he started to teach himself the guitar and found at soon that he was a natural. His earlier attempt to playing the guitar was at the age of 5 and he quit because his fingers used to hurt.
His new found talent was then used to make some money, as he started playing at some bars and pubs around his town and then soon started making attempts to meet and impress music publishers.
Kenny Chesney's first album 'In My Wildest Dreams' was released in 1994. Some of the songs from the album became instant hits and the album sold over 10,000 copies. His first major success came with his third album named 'Me and You' which was released in 1996. This was his first gold-certified album which also had a couple of singles that reached #2 on the Billboard.
